Untitled Story (Part 1)
The ceiling had never before taken on the incandessent glow that now resided there. The quick flashes of red, white, and blue were anything but patriotic, rather, giving a feeling of forboding to the bedroom of a simple apartment in the suburbs of Chicago.
Ethan gawked blatenly as the 9th district police busted through the doors of Brinkly's Electronics, across the street. He had stood there for the past 25 minutes, staring on and second guessing every move the cops were making. His problems with authority running deep, he knew just what the cops were planning in the case of catching the "masterminds" of the opium den that laid beneath the store's innocent enough looking floorboards.
The glow on the ceiling from the cars below was only matched by the subtle tones of blue, given off by a cruise commercial that displayed horrible excuses for actors and pretty people that would only advance in life through their looks.
Ok, he was being cynical right now and he knew it but the fact that he hadn't slept in three days overuled all instances of courtesy that he may have given out in another circumstance. Instead of thinking about the drug bust or skirting the coast of Jamaica, his mind now resided on his friends from highschool. Years had gone by in the 3 months since graduation, and now, curling up his lanky frame on his lumpy single bed, and pulling a red leather-bound book from a nightstand, Ethan prepared himself to enter his memories again. Visions of the few people who actually ment somthing to him, in the past four years, and who had once saved him from a dreadful mistake, now lept from the tome before it was even opened.
Ethan rubbed his hand briskly over the front of his senior yearbook, feeling the raised school emblem with each finger before slidding them over to the edge and daring himself to peak inside. He knew he shouldn't drudge up these memories again. It would only keep him from moving on with his life, but tonight, he needed the company from the ethereal beings that were the memories of Jamie, Sarah, Maria, and Cathrine....
